To what extent have we realized inner calm How is calm to be our natural effortless state? Its root is morality, sīla. “He who lives without hurting himself or others lives with a self become Brahman.” Ahiṃsa, harmlessness, is the root virtue. If I see the harmfulness in myself and let it transform itself, then ahiṃsa flowers out.
