Talk Archive Project
By Tim Surtell and Michael Piggott
Following on from the tremendous efforts already made in copying all of Phiroz’s original recorded talks onto MiniDisc, the Trust is now actively engaged in producing additional copies on alternative media.
The project involves each talk being transferred onto computer where they can be processed to remove as much background noise as possible. The talks are being archived to high-density computer backup media.
In addition all of the talks are being copied onto audio CD that enables them to be played on any CD player.
The above work will enable the Trust to produce the traditional cassette tapes as well as CDs and provide the opportunity to utilise new media types that may become available. It will also enable us to extend the availability of all the talks onto the Internet. Anyone, anywhere in the world, with access to a computer and the World Wide Web will be able to listen to a talk given by Phiroz.
A further benefit of this work is that it will hopefully safeguard at least one copy of this valuable archive, together with its computer database index, by enabling it to be stored over several separate physical locations.
